The first time he set foot on a sailing boat was when he was 12 years old, competing with his fa-ther (Mitch Booth Dual Olympic sailing Medallist) in the 2000 Hobie 16 World Championship. They finished in the top 10!

Taylor spent much of his time after finishing school in Australia, travelling around Europe where he sailed in many international events, gaining lots of valuable experience. This will be a major benefit during the European Campaign.

Since moving back to Australia he has relocated to Perth, Western Australia and teamed up with Emma Sturgeon to mount a campaign to become Hobie 16 European and World Champions.

Taylor says his current motivation to succeed stems from watching the Beijing Olympic sailing and the success of our Aussie sailors, the ever present desire to compete has been fanned to a burn-ing ambition to compete and succeed at the highest level of the sport.

Location: Perth, Western Australia

 

Started her sailing career at the age of 10 in a Manly Junior dinghy on the Swan River. After 5 years of Manly sailing she took out 1st place in the 2000 W.A. State Titles. She then went onto a high performance dinghy called a 29er also achieving some great results.

In 2003 she moved to multihulls sailing Hobie 16′s. Starting off at club level she gained a great interest in the class eventually competing in National and World title events over the past 2 years.

Emma says becoming the current Australian National Hobie 16 Champions has motivated her to work full time to become European Champions!!
